Our vision is a world free from the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. Our mission is to enable everyone affected by MS to live life to their full potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.
Multiple Sclerosis is the most common disabling disorder affecting young adults, and we estimate that around 85,000 people in the UK have MS, but it affects over 250,000 because of the direct impact on their families and carers. MS is the result of damage to myelin – the protective sheath surrounding the nerve fibres of the central nervous system. The damage interferes with the signals between the brain and other parts of the body. Seven people are diagnosed every day, the majority of these people are between 20 and 40, and two thirds are women.
