Every £1 raised from ink jet and toner cartridges will make a huge difference to all that have served or who are serving RAF, its associated air forces, their widows, children and other dependents who are in need – by reason of poverty.

Imagine having your future – your independence - taken away from you in an instant. This is what happened to Sean Rose, a PTI Corporal for the RAF. Whilst instructing on an RAF skiing course, Sean fell, broke his back and damaged his spinal cord. After months in hospitals, major surgery and treatment, he was facing life confined to a wheelchair. On top of this, medical discharge left him with no home.

This is when The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund stepped in.

The Fund provided an adapted bungalow, near his parents, and helped him attend a skiing course at the National Sports Centre for the Disabled in Colorado, USA, giving Sean the independence he never dreamed was possible. His dream now is to participate in paraplegic sports at a national level. And in 2006 he realised this, by taking part in the Winter Paralympic games where he came home with a fantastic 6thplace in the downhill ski-ing.
