Croydon Council has a population of 331,877 with 136,258 households covering an area size of 90.7km2. The council provides 33 recycling centres and 3 trade waste and reuse centres. There is a fortnightly green box collection programme for two thirds of the borough.

Current Recycling Rate BVPI 2002-2003 is 13.1% with the target of 28% on household waste until end of the year.

To address the rising level of waste, the borough is providing more recycling options. A recent addition to their list was inkjet and laser printer cartridges. Croydon Council has implemented our external Recycling Banks at eight Neighbourhood Recycling Centres including all three Civic Amenity Sites. This recycling initiative does not only have environmental merits but also helps to raise fund for Tommy's Baby Charity.

The banks are available for recycling at the following sites:

  • Tesco Clock Tower, Parchmore Road, Thornton Heath CR7
  • Sainsbury, Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood SE25
  • Lloyd Park Car Park, Off Coombe Road CR0
  • Sainsbury. Addington Road/Farley Road, Selsdon CR2
  • Factory Lane Civic Amenity Site, West Croydon CR0
  • Fishers Farm Civic Amenity Site, North Downs Crescent, CR0
  • Tesco, Brighton Road/Purley Road, Purley CR8
