Lambeth has a population of 266,791 with 122,295 households covering an area the size of 27.3km2. Lambeth has a weekly kerbside collection programme and 20 recycling bring sites. The Recycling Rate BVPI in 2003/04 was 10.26% with the target of 21% to hit by the end of year 2005/06. Lambeth is the first London Borough to implement our external Inkjet & Laser Recycling Bank to heighten their present recycling rate.

Lambeth Recycling is also part of the Rethink Rubbish Western Riverside Programme which is a 5 year public awareness campaign to get everyone recycling more, reducing their rubbish and buying more recycled products.

Recycling Banks can be found at the following bring sites:

  • Sainsburys Car Park, Wandsworth Road SW8
  • Acre Lane, (Outside Tesco) SW2
  • Sainsburys Car Park, Streatham High Road, SW16
  • The Pavement, Clapham Common, (Outside Station) SW4
  • Belvedere Road, (near Royal Festival Hall) SE1
  • Waste and Recycling Centre, Vale Street SE27 9PA

This scheme is set up to raise more funds for Tommy's Baby Charity. Apart from the contribution to charity, the Council also benefits from various community incentives from the scheme.
